More on Jeff Weisse-Death by Prozac

Jeff Weisse attempted suicide in the summer of 2004 after his own father suicided and his Mother was committed to permanent care after suffering brain-damage in a car crash. The solution of his appointed psychiatrist was to put him on Prozac... and then to double the dose when he got more depressed.

Last months (March 2005), three weeks after his dose was doubled, Weisse went out and killed Daryl Lussier (his grandfather) and his grandfather's companion, before going on to kill a total of nine people and wounding seven others prior to taking his own life.

According to Lee Cook, a cousin of Lussier, a ‘counselor’ had told Weisse’s family that he was “just going through a stage”.

Cook said: "He left messages with everybody - his relatives, his friends, his school, his counselors". "He was telling people over and over that he was hurting and needed some relief, but nobody seemed to provide any to him."

No one had the time or the inclination to listen to Jeff Weisse and help him through his problems. Instead psychs drugged him just to shut him up. Well okay, he’s quiet now, and so are nine other people.

Deaths in Mental Custody

From Private Eye in the UK last month.
Dr. Joanna Bennet, the mother of David (Rocky), who died at The Norvic Clinic in Norwich after being held face-down for between 20 and 30 minutes by 4 mental health nurses, maintained, "Mental health services continue to be in denial about critical incidents and deaths associated with control and restraint."

General advice is that patients should never be restrained face-down for more than 3 minutes. Three months after the Blofeld inquiry into Bennet's death, Azrar Ayub, a patient at the secure Edenfield Unit at Prestwick Hospital near Manchester, died after being sedated and restrained by staff.

Outbreak of Sanity in Psychiatry

An article in Business Week this week discusses the new approaches being tried by psychs to combat depression. The utter failure of drugs, and cutting, burning, shocking and ice-picking has finally led to the study of more natural and non-harmful alternatives.

Whilst wacky ideas like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (a supposedly non-invasive treatment that ‘works’ by yet another attempt to fiddle with the brain) are still being wheeled out, attention is also being turned to St. John’s Wort whose only side effect is an occasional tummy upset. This sounds a lot better than the suicides and violent behavious associated with psychotropic drugs.

Fish oil and amino acid derivatives are also being looked at and are proving to be almost as effective as St. John’s Wort. Even exercise is being looked at. Recent clinical studies published in the January 2005 “American Journal of Preventive Medicine” have shown that three hours of light exercise a week is as effective as anti-depressants in improving mood. So much for the chemical imbalance nonsense.

This really does seem like an unexpected outbreak of sanity amongst the psychs. Maybe the voices of those many psychs who are appalled at the drugging and shocking etc committed by their less scrupulous colleagues are finally being heard.

Maybe we are on the threshold of a new era when people who are troubled will really be able to get help, instead of being sent out of their mind with dreadful drugs, or being brain damaged by having their brains fried by Shock Treatment. Maybe we have finally reached the tipping point and in twenty years we will be able to look back on this last 70 years and shudder at the horrors that the psychs subjected people to.

Early Entrant for Psychiatric Twit of the Week

This might be a bit premature as, having still two days before the end of the week, I am bound to come up with something dafter in the world of psychiatry... but this is pretty good.

This week's entrant is actually two psychiatrists, Glenn J. Treisman and Andrew F Angelino. They have a written a a book called "The Psychiatry of AIDS: A Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment".

The book proposes that HIV/AIDS is basically a psychiatric epidemic... and that psychiatric disorders lead to an increased risk of HIV as well as worsen the prognosis for the infected individual

No, then again, I don't think I will come up with anything dafter than that in only two days.

More Prozac Violence

Last February in the US, Aaron Robinson was found guilty of shooting a man. His sentence was recommended as eight years by the jury. Yesterday the judge reduced this to three years because Robinson was on Prozac at the time.

Prozac Peddlers on the Back Foot

26th April '05
Scientists at the European Medicines Agency have come out in favour of a ban on anti-depressants being prescribed to anyone under the age of 18, except for those suffering from so called “obsessive-compulsive disorder” and “attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder”.

This is the same situation as the UK except that in the UK they made an exception for Prozac and still allow this to be prescribed for just about any of the vast range of the “disorders”. The UK will lobby the EMA to allow Prozac to continue being used. Hopefully they will not succeed.

The reason given by the scientists at EMA was that anti-depressants increase suicidal thoughts and suicidal attempts.

The only odd thing is why any exceptions were made by the EMA. What logic could possibly justify making it okay to give any young child a psychtropic drug that is known to cause suicidal thoughts and suicidal attempts?

Weight Problem?

Finally, the news that will stop anti-depressant drug sales in their tracks.

Okay, so we all know that anti-depressants cause, amongst dozens of other symptoms, depression, suicide, homicidal behaviour, death etc, etc.

BUT, did you know that it causes massive weight gain? Apparently this is the most visible of all symptoms. Get that news out and the game is over. Sales will fall off a cliff. Death is one thing... putting on weight... forget it!

40% of Americans have taken anti-depressants... no wonder they are so overweight.

Corruption at Merck

This story is not directly related to psychiatric crimes, except that about half way down the article (where I comment) it touches on the point of how so many of the mind-bending, anti-depressant drugs pass the 'scrutiny' of the F.D.A. (Food and Drug Administration).
As lawsuits against Merck over the drug Vioxx move closer toward trial recently discovered documents show that Merck was informed by Dr. Eliav Barr, one of their own senior scientists, that one of the patients in the original clinical trial had died of a heart attack.

Merck expressed their concern by repeatedly urging the scientist to change his views “so that we don’t raise concerns”. Later, when reporting to the F.D.A., they claimed that the reason for the death of the 73 year old woman who died on Oct. 21, 1999, was “unknown”.

Email messages from the time show that Merck was deeply concerned about all the scientific data that flatly contradicted what they were busy telling the F.D.A.

Also in the emails a Merck executive said that he would personally pressure senior officials of the F.D.A. if they took any action against Merck, and unfavourable to Vioxx. (Ed note... apart from the obvious personal tragedies that this corruption directly brought about, the real story is contained in this paragraph.)

Merck have claimed all along that they had no evidence of cardiac risk from the use of Vioxx.

More than 25 million Americans took Vioxx over a five year period ending in 2004 when the drug was finally withdrawn from the market.

The first trials are due to start in May 2005.

Watch for an out of court settlement. This one could cost a bundle though as there are 4,600 claimants.

Let’s hope that the legal trials are a little more tricky for Merck to rig than the clinical trials.

Big Pharma Corruption in Ireland

Couldn't dig out the names unfortunately, but it's a guaranteed source... straight from the horse's mouth. And I might add, not at this stage reported in the MM (mainstream media).

Following the lucrative tour of Ireland by Mr Fiorello, the head pharmacist for the whole Pennsylvania mental hospital system, who 'impartially' extolled the virtues of Zoloft before being nabbed and fined US$27,000- for being in the pocket of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, enquiries were made locally.

This has just resulted in two appointments from Ireland to the the new European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention being dumped by the Irish government. They were also discovered to be in the pocket of Big Pharma.

Drug Suicides

The news from Europe about the dangers of prescrbing psychotropic drugs to children was picked up and widely reported in the Chinese media today. That will deal a blow to the prospects for the global ambitions of Big Pharma's drugging for profit schemes.

Suicide Warning

Breaking news from Europe (today)

The European drug regulatory body (The European Medicines Agency) has warned that the products of Eli Lilly and Co and GlaxoSmithKline etc, products such as Paxil, Prozac, Ritalin, Zoloft and all the other SSRI's and SNRI's SHOULD NOT BE USED TO TREAT DEPRESSION IN CHILDREN BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF SUICIDE AND HOSTILITY.

Will this actually stop them being used? I truly do hope so. There has been enough destruction of young people's lives. Children and teenagers whose only crime was to be loud and noisy or upset about something... or maybe slow in class.

Can any single adult not remember being upset and depressed at times as a child? Being upset with the harsher aspects of life is a part of growing up. Trying to blot out such times with drugs will AT BEST only retard the development of the child.

Anti-depressants already carry a warning in the US of the increased risk of suicide... not that that stops them being used. Estimates are that over 10 million American children are being legally drugged daily. Let's hope that the Europeans have the good sense and decency to not continue down the US path with these horror drugs.

Drugging children with psychotropic drugs for the sole sake of profit is the ultimate, evil expression of the idea that children should be seen and not heard.

Good money for the pushers (psychs) and manufacturers (Big Pharma) if they can sleep at night.

Stephen Rose-Leading Neuroscientist

Stephen Rose, one of Britain’s leading neuroscientists has an aversion to the belief that human consciousness can be trivialized as mere chemical activity, or can be gentically determinded

“The human brain has 100 billion nerve cells, with 100 trillion interconnections. It is the most complex phenomenon in the known universe”.

“The mind,” says Rose, “is larger than the brain”.

Stephen Rose is right... but then he is a leading neuroscientist dealing with a science... not a psychiatrist dealing with gobbledygook and Big Pharma.

Big Pharma Corruption

Mr Fiorello, the head pharmacist for the whole Pennsylvania mental hospital system has just been fined US$27,000 and suspended without pay for accepting a bribe from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. He was given the bribe to go to a conference in Dublin and give a glowing report on the anti-depressant drug Zoloft.

Pfizer of course was not found guilty of anything. Pfizer declared that they were completely satisfied that its working relationship with Fiorello were completely legal and proper. Legal?... just possibly under the current rule of laws which often have little to do with justice. Proper?... hardly.

She was always talking and running around,
too much sugar was in her diet.
So they gave her anti-depressant drugs,
now she's ever so still and quiet.

Psychiatric Twit of the Week

Apparently a series of tests carried out by Dr Glenn Wilson of the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, discloses that an average worker’s functioning IQ falls ten points when distracted by ringing telephones and incoming emails.
Oh really? That sounds like the same sort of garbage that predicts that one in five people will suffer from a mental disorder in their lifetime (requiring expensive psychiatric intervention of course).
How low does your IQ have to fall before you can believe, let alone publish that sort of stuff?
And what are the media thinking about when they print such foolishness?
What self-serving, absolute tommy-rot, undiluted nonsense. If psychiatrists were not so dangerous they would be the subject of ridicule.
If their wages depended upon their credibility with the public, rather than government funding, they would be out of business in a week... you can't operate a business from jail.

More News From The Psychiatric Killing Fields

Christopher Pittman who shot to death his grandparents in 2001 has blamed the psych distributed anti-depressant Zoloft. He said in a television interview last Saturday (9th April 2005): “The littlest thing would just set me off. I was like a bomb ready to blow up”,
"It was just like these voices in my head, echoing in my head, kept getting louder and louder and louder. Those voices were strong enough to make me kill”. "It was all a dream, it was me, but it wasn't me."

A remorseful Pittman feels that he should be in jail for the rest of his life.

Christopher Pittman was just TWELVE YEARS OLD at the time of the shootings. He was given a 30 year sentence. The psychiatrist who prescribed Zoloft to a minor was not even charged.

Psychiatry is a crime against humanity. A crime that is supported with vast amounts of money by governments around the world.

Prozac-Another Mass Murder

"He was a lot more quiet. I wouldn't say any better."
friend Sky Grant on Jeff Weise's use of Prozac

On March 21st 2005 Jeff Weise, a 16 years old, shot dead 9 people in the Red Lake High School rampage. He had just had his Prozac dosage increased to 60 milligrams a day by his psychiatrist.

"Authorities" said they don't know why Weise killed nine people.

Grant is also on an anti-depressant (Zoloft),

"He was a lot more quiet. I wouldn't say any better," Grant said.

How many more deaths and destroyed lives will have to occur before psychiatry admits that they have no solutions to so called "mental illnesses".

Psychiatrists are the problem, not the solution. Psychiatry kills.

Ritalin-Death of a Child

A Michigan father who says his son died from taking Ritalin for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, has a website devoted to warning others about the drug. "I have learned that thousands of children have died as a direct result of using psychotropic medications over the years," the man says on the site,

Ritalin-Creating Caged Kids

"Jerome, an eight-year-old from Seattle, came and stayed with us last summer for a break from the city. When he arrived he was a mess, though he was on Ritalin. After two or three days, however, we weaned him off his dose, because with all the room to play he was no longer bouncing off the walls, but beginning to take himself in hand. (At home in his apartment building there was nothing for him to do but watch TV.) I could definitely see the change.

When this little guy first arrived he could barely keep his attention on anything for more than a minute, he was so keyed up and distracted. I laid down some ground rules and gave him some time. I took him out with a bike, since he was unsure of how to ride...By the end of his stay he was so settled and happy that at one point he even asked me if he could call me Dad. I just about lost it. This child didn't need Ritalin: all he needed was fresh air-and love."

Put Jerome back in the projects, and he will probably revert. He'll be put back on Ritalin, and his "symptoms" will be re-suppressed. Whether he'll ever get the attention he really needs, either at home or at school, is quite another question. Fortunately it's one that increasing numbers of people are asking, like Peter Breggin, a pediatrician and author:

"People call drugs like Ritalin a godsend for emotional and behavioral problems...But I think the way they're overused is absolutely horrifying. When I was asked by the National Institutes of Health to be a scientific discussant on the effects of these drugs at a conference they held, I reviewed the important literature, and I found that when animals are given them, they stop playing; they stop being curious; they stop socializing; they stop trying to escape. Ritalin makes good caged animals...We're making good caged kids. It's all very well to talk about it taking a whole village to raise a child, but in practice, we're acting as if we think it only takes a pill."

Given the dismal state of the culture described above, parenting in the 21st century is clearly going to involve a lot of hard work. But why should that frighten us? As long as we run from the responsibilities that will always be there, we will not only squander the most formative moments of bringing up children, but rob ourselves as well of its most meaningful joys.

Columbine High School

On the 20th April, 1999 18 year old Eric Harris shot to death 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School.
This week, six years later, the father of Daniel Rohrbough one of the victims, is still trying to get public officials to release all the documents relating to the attack. His son was killed and he wants answers. Having made 22 requests for the records he is now threatening to sue.
The real story is that Eric Harris was on Luvox... an SSRI anti-depressant.
That’s it.
Psychiatry kills.

Monday, April 11, 2005

The memory of Buchenvald Concentration Camp looms large in the media this week. Gerhard Schroeder the German politician apologised to the victims and survivors for the horrors committed.
I sat back and could half hear the apologies of future politicians for the current psychiatric atrocities being committed against another people absolutely inncocent of any crime... the 'mentally ill'.
The politicians will claim they knew nothing about it... many will be right. They refuse to look at the burgeoning piles of evidence. They refuse to listen to the victims. They know nothing, because they don't care to learn. Shame on them. History will judge not only the psychiatrist with his warped and evil 'treatments', but the politicians who, even though presented with documented and unimpeachable evidence, did nothing.

A Two Year Snapshot

The following is a small part of the testimony of Bruce Wiseman, President of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), as presented to The Pennsylvania House Democratic Policy Committee Philadelphia, Pennsylvania July 20, 1999

1. On May 25, 1997, 18-year-old Jeremy Strohmeyer raped and murdered a 7-year-old African American girl in Las Vegas, Nevada. Strohmeyer had been diagnosed with ADD and prescribed Dexedrine, a Ritalin-like drug, immediately prior to the killing.

2. On October 1st, 1997, in Pearl Mississippi, 16-year-old Luke Woodham stabbed his mother, 50-year-old Mary Woodam, to death and then went to his high school where he shot nine people - killing two teenage girls and wounding seven others. Published reports say he was on Prozac.

3. Exactly two months later on Dec 1, 1997, Michael Carneal, a 14-year-old, opened fire on students at a high school prayer meeting in West Paducah, Kentucky. Three teenagers were killed, five others were wounded, one of whom was paralyzed. Carneal was reportedly on Ritalin.

4. Then in February, 1998 a young man in Huntsville, Alabama, while on Ritalin went psychotic - chopping up his parents with an ax and also killing one sibling and almost murdering another.

5. On March 24, 1998 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, 11-year-old Andrew Golden and 14-year-old Mitchell Johnson shot 15 people killing four students, one teacher, and wounding 10 others. According to one report, the boys were believed to be on Ritilan. 6. Two months later another grisly school massacre occurred. On May 21, 1998 15-year-old Kip Kinkel of Springfield, Oregon murdered his parents and proceeded to his high school where he went on a rampage killing two students and wounding 22 others. Kinkel had been prescribed both Prozac and Ritalin.

7. On April 16th, 1999, 15-year-old Shawn Cooper of Notus, Idaho took a 12-guage shot gun to school and started firing, injuring one student and holding the school hostage for about 20 minutes. Terrified students ran for their lives, some barricading themselves in classrooms. Cooper had been taking Ritalin when he fired the shotgun's rounds.

8. The incident in Idaho did not make the national press (no one, thank God, was killed). But all that changed four days later when 18-year-old Eric Harris killed 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School before killing himself. Harris was on one of the SSRI anti-depressants called Luvox.

9. One month later to the day, on May 20th of this year TJ Solomon, a 15-year-old high school student in Conyers, Georgia, while on Ritalin opened fire on and wounded six of his classmates. Thankfully, none were killed.

10. Then there's 14-year-old Rod Mathews who had been prescribed Ritalin since the third grade and beat a classmate to death with a bat.

And 19-year-old James Wilson who had been on psychiatric drugs for 5 years and took a .22 caliber revolver into an elementary school in Greenwood, South Carolina killing two young girls, and wounding seven other children and two teachers!

Drug Companies in the Spotlight

Britain's House of Commons will be told this week by an official enquiry that Britain's multi BILLION POUND drug industry has created an over-medicalised society that believes in a pill for every ill.
That drug companies have deliberately made 'obsolete' cheaper and better therapies, or simple prevention, and instead promoted new 'wonder drugs' with the sole aim of increasing shareholder profits.
The report of the enquiry is absolutely damning. Will it change anything? We can but hope... and if you are a resident of the UK you should write to your MP urging that action to curtail the drug companies be taken.
My money is on Big Pharma buying their their way out of trouble again. It's never failed them in the past. But one day public pressure will put enough fear into our elected representatives that they will do something. Maybe this time.

Psychiatric Deaths

The really appalling fact about deaths whilst in psychiatric 'care' is that it is not possible, by definition, to die from a mental disorder. Which leaves us with the inescapable conclusion that either the victims died from one of the bizarre psychiatric 'treatments', or they were misdiagnosed in the first place and should have been receiving conventional medical treatment. I suspect that mostly it is a combination of both.

Deaths in Custody

Between 1950 and 1964, more people died in United States federal, state and county "mental institutions" than the number of Americans killed in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War 1, World War 11, the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf War combined.
(Based on figures obtained from the Center for Mental Health Services in 1994, and statistics obtained from the 1995 Funk & Wagnalls "World Almanac and Book of Facts" Page 163)
