Euro2.9 Million Award to Victim of Psychiatry

John Manweiller has just been awarded 2.9 million Euros in a Dublin Court after being unlawfully detained in a psychiatric hospital.

He was forced to take a treatment drug when released under threat of being locked up again if he didn’t.

The payout was the highest ever award by an Irish jury.

Mr Manweiller had sought damages for personal injury, loss and damage sustained by him arising out of the negligence and breach of duty by the Eastern Health Board, its servants or agents, and for trespass to his person, assault, battery, false imprisonment and breach of his constitutional rights, in particular his right to liberty.
