Psychiatric Fraud

A physician who was practising psychiatry in Southern Saskatchewan in Canada is believed to have used fraudulent credentials. Ashoka Prasad practised in Weyburn toward the end of 2004 until early 2005. He has now fled the country.

Bryan Salte of The College of Physicians and Surgeons in Saskatchewan said that Dr. Prasad had presented credentials to the college that, whilst legitimate, were not his. Mr Salte added that he thought that Prasad was a genuine psychiatrist.

In other words The College of Physicians and Surgeons couldn’t tell the difference between a genuine psychiatric fraud and a fraudulent psychiatric fraud.
