Update on Gastro Bleeding

With regard to the posting on Gastro bleeding brought about by taking anti-depressants, Morry Smulevitz, spokesman for Lilly, the maker of Prozac, said that he had not seen the new study but that gastrointestinal bleeding risk is already noted in the drug's publicly available prescribing information.

More from Michael Jones the original report's head researcher: "While more research needs to be conducted ... physicians must closely monitor for this serious adverse event, especially in patients who are taking both SSRIs and NSAIDs,".
"This is a potent example of the need for doctors to be particularly conscious about potential side effects when prescribing multiple medications for their patients,".
